This pair of practical workshops is aimed at secondary teachers and staff who want to learn how to set up and use their school grounds and gardens to deliver the National Curriculum through real world learning.
Day one will concentrate on the practicalities of setting up your garden from scratch, what to grow and essentials such as funding and suppliers. It concentrates on how to set up your school garden and what to grow.
Day two will focus on how to use your school garden and wider grounds for teaching in inspiring ways.
Curriculum areas covered will include science, geography and key skills, amongst others. The workshops are linked to the Sustainable Schools Doorways themes, Campaign for School Gardening and the Learning Outside the Classroom Campaign.
