DCSF recently consulted with schools and stakeholders to gather views about what can be done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the schools sector, what needs to be put in place and what can be achieved. As part of the consultation process, DCSF and the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) hosted two stakeholder workshops, one in Sheffield one in London. The workshops aimed to:
● Raise awareness of the consultation process and encourage individuals and organisations to respond ● Provide a common platform of understanding of carbon management in schools on which delegates can base their consultation responses ● Identify issues, opportunities, ideas and actions related to carbon management within schools, to help inform development of a carbon management plan
The document below provides a transcript of discussions at a stakeholder event held in Sheffield on 4th November 2009. Note the schools carbon management consultation closed on 20th November 2009. Link http://www.yorkshireandhumber.net/esd/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=220
